Biography:

No one knew Kanva Ki-Oben that well, and those that did never suspected that he had fathered a child. The mother was Marin Ethal, a Priestess of Quellious from of all places, Freeport. Whatever events transpired that would draw the silent monk to this woman did so, and young D'Chette was the product of that union, sadly, unknown to his father. Husbandless mothers were treated poorly in Freeport so it was not long until Marin fled the corrupt city in search of safe haven. After a brief stay in the friendly but foreign town of Rivervale, the mother and son settled in Qeynos, a large but peaceful city on Antonica's west coast. Safe for the time being, Marin set to the task of raising her son... still longing for a sign from the boy's father.

D'Chette was bright from the start, a keen learner with a thirst for knowledge; to learn who he was and all about that which surrounded him. It was obvious that he shared his father's wanderlust and spirit, but the wisdom and leadership of his mother was as much a part of him.

Until he turned fifteen, Marin had instructed him fully in the ways of Quellious; to be at peace with one's self, to fight only when need be, to learn all in search of a greater understanding. And while young D'Chette did grasp and put these principles to use, it was soon rather evident that he was his father's son. He had a zest not only to improve his mind, but his body and soul. To join them all as one entity. And though it tore her inside to send him away, Marin knew the only person who could help the boy with what he sought was Kanva Ki-Oben.

After the loss at Etheric Hill and the death of Rauthannen, the former Knights of Mimbra had silently left each others company. And while some of those that were closer kept in touch, no one ever heard from the enigmatic Kanva again. It took two years for D'Chette to find his father, with the aid of his half-brother (born of another father), yet find him he did, ironically in Freeport. And while inside Kanva was overjoyed to have finally found his son, he knew at this crucial moment in the boy's life his role was best done as a teacher and not a father. When they finally met, there was but a silent exchange. D'Chette's half-brother returned to Qeynos and D'Chette began his tutelage under Kanva. There was much the boy had to learn, but Marin's upbringing served him well. D'Chette had a craving to improve, to absorb all his father and mentor could teach him. For two years they silently carried about their rituals and practices until they reached the day where Kanva could teach his son no more than life could do better.

D'Chette was now a Ki-O'ben Monk. It was up to him to carry on his father's legacy. With heavy hearts the two parted, never having said what they truely felt. D'Chette returned to his family briefly in Qeynos before deciding that he would take the road set out for him in his own blood... to travel the lands in search of himself, and a haunting echo that eluded him.

He found Etheric Hill a year after leaving home, now based out of Freeport. An insignificant bump on the horizon of the Commonlands, there was something almost holy about it nonetheless. What did Donovan Thorne see on that day so long ago that would cause him to give everything he had for his companions? And what made his death more potent than that of any man who had died in battle? These questions troubled D'Chette for countless months. Had Thorne known something Rauthannen did not? Did Donovan Thorne die on Etheric Hill, or had he merely transcended into a form that would ultimately be Rauthannen the Lich-King's undoing. D'Chette knew with the answers to these questions he could quiet the doubts in his own head. The Lich-King was still alive, that much became obvious through visions and dreams. Rauthannen cheated death a second time to make another grab at the power of Norrath. But where were the Knights of Mimbra? Gone, with their leader Thorne.

Had Donovan Thorne sacrificed himself to empower the offspring of his companions? D'Chette had always felt that piece of himself that wasn't him at all; like a voice or inner strength. Had Thorne known that only through sacrifice could the Lich-King be ultimately defeated?

There was only one answer... to seek out the sons and daughters of the Knights of Mimbra.

It was up to them to carry on their mentor's legacy.
